New resources on fighting censorship for Friends of the Library groups and library Trustees/boards

Intellectual Freedom Resources for Trustees, Friends, & Foundations

With the rise in book challenges and censorship, how can Boards of Trustees and Friends of the Library groups support intellectual freedom in libraries? The United for Libraries Intellectual Freedom Task Force has developed two new resource guides - Challenges to Materials and Programs: The Role of the Friends of the Library and Challenges to Materials and Programs: The Role of Library Trustees & Board Members.

These brief guides, available to all on United for Libraries Intellectual Freedom Resources for Trustees, Friends, & Foundations page, can be shared among Friends of the Library and Trustee boards, and library directors can share with their groups to let them know how to support the library and fight censorship.

Trustees and Friends of the Library should also join the Unite Against Book Bans campaign to receive information and updates on how to fight censorship.
