Patty Zusinas awarded 2023 United for Libraries Outstanding Friend Conference Grant sponsored by ThriftBooks

Patty Zusinas, Past President of the Moon Township (Pa.) Library Friends, is the 2023 recipient of the United for Libraries Outstanding Friend Conference Grant sponsored by ThriftBooks. She will receive free registration to the  2023 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago and $1000 for travel expenses.

A devoted Friend of Moon Library since 1988, Zusinas served as Secretary and Vice President before becoming President. She was simultaneously appointed to the library’s Board of Trustees and later served as Secretary and Vice President.

Patty Zusinas received degrees in administration of justice and public administration from the University of Pittsburgh. This, combined with her involvement in local politics, enabled her to lead the Library Referendum Campaign in the 1990s. After a hard-fought campaign, the library referendum was defeated, but the loss showed that there was support by the voters of Moon Township for the Library. As a result, the library was provided a new home in a country club golf clubhouse that the township purchased.

During her 35 years as a Friend of the Moon Township Library, Zusinas served the Friends by participating in and leading various Friends events, including the two-week annual book sale, Tree Spectaculars program, Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch with Santa, the American Girl doll tea party, the Downton Abbey tea parties, the Chocolate and Champagne Fundraiser, the Wine and Cheese fundraiser, the Annual Meet Local Authors Literary Event, and many more.
